Introduction

Use this guide to open the bonnet on a 2007 - 2010 R56 Mini Cooper S.

Steps

  1. Open the passenger door.

  2. Crouch down and pull the bonnet lever below and to the left of the glove compartment. You should feel a pop as the bonnet releases.

  3. Next, go to the front of the car. Put one hand slightly to the right of the middle of the bonnet's edge. Feel for a lever — my thumb in the image shows where it is. When you find it, squeeze it and lift the bonnet.

    You don't need to hold the bonnet up. Gas struts will keep it open.

Drop the bonnet from about half a meter to close it.
