Exterior chrome trim removal
Introduction
Use this guide to remove exterior chrome trim.
Steps
1. Equipment
Gather the following equipment in order to complete this guide. The links below direct you to the exact products I used.
1. Rear light
-
Start at the top right and, going anticlockwise, insert a plastic pry tool into the inside edge of the trim and gently pry up until it unclips.
Take your time, as the plastic clips can break quite easily.
-
Once the top and sides are unclipped, give it a little wiggle and pull down; it should come off.
1. Headlight
-
Firstly, open the bonnet.
-
Next, locate the clips on the inside of the headlight trim.
If the trim is properly locked in place, you should notice a gap on each clip.
-
Push the clip inwards until there's no gap.
-
Repeat step 3 for all clips.
-
Grab your plastic pry tool and apply a little pressure at the base of the clip and push inwards until it detaches from the bonnet.
Also, pop the trim outwards a little to make sure it's fully detached.
-
Repeat step 5 for all clips.
Once all clips are detached, the trim should pop off.
🏁 Conclusion
Reassembly is the reverse of removal.
