Cabin filter replacement

Cabin filter replacement

Introduction

Use this guide to replace the cabin filter in a 2007 - 2010 R56 Mini Cooper S.

1. Equipment

Gather the following equipment to complete this guide. The links below direct you to the exact products I used.

2. Removal

  1. Open the nearside door, crouch down and peer under the glove compartment until you see the cabin filter housing.

  2. You'll notice two clips (one of mine is broke) that need detaching for the cabin filter housing lid to fall down.

Grab your flathead and lightly jam it into the side of the clip and pry. Be careful, these snap easily.

  3. Next, youll notice the filter is kept in place by rails it slides into on either side of the housing.

Simply pull the filter in the same direction of the rail and it should slide out easily.

  4. With the filter out you can see the path of the rails more clearly

When installing a new filter, ensure the 'Air flow' arrows are pointing down.

🏁 Conclusion

Reassembly is the reverse of removal.

The new filter will be quite stiff but it should more or less effortlessly slide into the rails with minimal kinks.
