Oil level check

Introduction

Use this guide to check the oil level in a 2007 Mini Cooper S.

1. Equipment

Gather the following equipment to complete this guide.

2. Check

  1. Drive the car until it reaches operating temperature.

  2. Park your car on level ground.

  3. Turn the car off and wait for about 15 minutes.

  4. Pull and wipe the dipstick completely dry.

  5. Insert the dipstick all the way to the bottom, wait around 2 seconds and swiftly pull it out without rotating.

  6. Read the front side of the tip. Never the back as the tip scrapes the tube, giving an inaccurate reading.

    The oil level should sit between the 'MIN' bottom ridge and the 'MAX' top ridge on the dipstick.

    For reference, it's roughly 1 liter of oil to fill between 'MIN' and 'MAX' if you need to top up.
